Jay K - What inspired each character?
I wrote Just Juliet first, so Lena was the first one. I think she was just the idea of a High School experience when you don't really know who you're going to be after graduation. Someone who doesn't really fit anywhere - and Juliet was created as a mystery that Lena wanted to figure out. Scott actually came before Lakyn, so I think Lakyn was made to be the opposite of him. But somehow, these characters just kind of ... made themselves.
Angie F - What's your favorite part about being an author?
Writing is kind of the only thing I was ever good at, so when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always say "a writer", so I guess kind of finding my place, seeing my hobby come to life, is my favorite part.
Lina F - what makes or breaks a signing event for you?
The worst signing events are always the ones where no one shows, not even one person, which just sucks because it makes it not feel worth it at all. What makes them is when people talk to me - I love hearing their stories, like why they read my books in the first place, or what caught their interest to make them want to read them. It's cool to learn about my readers, even the new ones.
LaDonna VH - What genre do you think you'll gravitate to as a fictional writer?
I always intend to write LGBT, and contemporary slice-of-life is where I find my interest, but I have an idea for a fantasy series that I'm excited about.
