I haven't personally celebrated Thanksgiving since I was a teen. My parents don't eat sugar (or anything else fun), my fiance is Mexican, and my brother-in-law is Native American, so to say it's a holiday I grew out of is kind of an understatement.

However, it's still a big holiday for most Americans, and that means it can be a scary time for a lot of Queer Americans. Issues come up like not being able to go home because of your sexuality or gender, or having to re-closet yourself either because your family doesn't know, or because those who do don't think your extended family could take it.

What I want to start focusing on during holidays like this is safer, happier alternatives. And while I hope you, dear reader, don't need them, well ... maybe you know someone who does.
